Hi, I luckily found a proof copy of your book "Money for Nothing" on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. I read it on the Amtrak back to Ashland Oregon. It is one of the best books I've ever read! Your sense of humor is what really made this book a page-turner for me. You could probably write a page-turner about anything, for that very reason; just the way you set things up and present them to the reader is absolutely hilarious.
You're hopefully considering the book to fuel for a t.v. sitcom: it would be so AWESOME. It'd appeal to business people and to lottery players. Young people'd love it. I like how you balance the elegant cut-throat business side with your personal experience of various people and situations. Also, I was so thankful for the epilogue, because it was sad for the book to come to an end! I was so happy for you and your Egyptian friend to have that comp room!!!
Years ago, I read a book called, "The Stockbroker Handbook," or something like that. Like your book, it was a subject totally beyond my usual reading (I loved what happened when you mentioned "John Updike" at one of the Firm's meetings! Ha ha ha! Once in Texas, I called a bookstore to ask if they had anything by Dostoevsky; the bookstore guy said, "Doctor Whooo??") That book was also humorous, written by a young person. But your book was just fantastic with its huge contrasts, e.g. - one day in your parents' basment, then suddenly in an office making millions. I loved loved loved all what you said about being a short order cook!! You'd probably be an awesome stockbroker. However, I'm sure glad you're writing books!
Your book is great - they should also sell it wherever lottery tickets are sold! If I could mention one more thing - the PBS local stations often have membership drives, and they offer various prizes as incentives. That might be a nice way to market your books - like, make a video where you're giving a humorous and informative talk, maybe with one or more others, and then people enjoy and have an idea about your book and want to donate to the station for a free copy. It puts your book on t.v., too.
If you've written anything about your experiences of getting your book published, could you please let me know, send me a link. Thank you very much. Again, your book is great, and I'm going to buy your new book, too.
So glad to have found your book!!! Best wishes to you and your family. p.s. please add my name to your mailing list.
Thank you so much! Sincerely, Patti Morey, pattimorey@aol.com
